Review of Novello Di Macina Extra Virgin Olive Oil

This harvest is only offered once a year, and my local cheese gourmet shop runs out of it quickly during the holidays when it comes out, so I was thrilled to find it on Amazon.I bought 3 bottles, I use olive oil daily. It has a wonderful nutty smell and taste, not a mild flavor at all.Very special, pricey, but worth every penny.I love it drizzled on bread or in dressings. NOT a cooking oil.I could drink it from the bottle. Each year it tastes a little differently.I also love Frantoia for everyday extra virgin olive oil.It tastes like Italy!

Review of Novello '2010' Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 lt or 12/1 lt

This oil is fantastic. It is unfiltered, and while it may look a bit odd when you first see it (especially if you are used to crystal-clear oils), once you taste it, you won't want anything else. The oil, with its little bits of olive, has a very fresh aroma. Those bits also give the oil a texture that is more palatable than common oils.I received a bottle of this oil for Christmas and have used it daily since. The thing is, I haven't used it for cooking - just for dressing, topping, and dipping.I have resisted the urge to just take a shot of the stuff.I would think that one could cook with it in much the same way that one cooks with butter - I'd be worried about the bits burning over too high a heat. But honestly, it has been so good in its raw form, I've not seen the need to use it in the pan (we all have other oil for that).A few things - don't put it in the fridge - it will set up on you until it warms up again, and frankly, who wants to wait.Second, if you order a bottle, it may not look like the photo here because the oil has a 'vintage' of sorts (note the 2010 in the name) and it seems the manufacturer changes the labels from time to time.

This oil may seem pricey, but for those that enjoy good olive oil, I strongly recommend it.Spending this much on liquor isn't a big deal to most people, and this stuff is at least good for you.

Product Description:
The flavour of "Novello" will remind you of healthy green olives. Its fruity aroma, with a slightly spicy aftertaste, will be noticeable until the end of June. Afterwards, the product will tend to soften, becoming sweeter and more harmonic. This oil is pressed from Ogliaroal, Bianolilla and Cerasuola olives grown in West central Sicily. It is harvested by hand and milled within 12 hours from the harvest. This oil is unfiltered. Great for all kinds of rustic dishes, bruschetta and bean soups.

Review of Barbera Frantoia Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 33.8-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2)

From our experience the Extra virgin, while very good, is slightly lacking in the flavor and fruitiness of the Sicilian also by Frantoia and available at a slightly lesser price from Amazon.Maybe it is just us - what do others think?
