I got turned on to this product watching the Barefoot Contesa with Ina Garten on the Food Network.Despite it's high price, this olive oil is flavorful and of the best quality I've seen in olive oil products.I highly recommend this product by Olio Santo's out of California.

Product Description:
Planeta extra virgin olive oil comes from two different family-owned olive groves. The first is the centuries-old grove named Ulmo, which surrounds the family's winery in Sambuca di Sicilia. The other is a younger grove called Capparrina and is situated on fertile land by the sea near Menfi, in the province of Agrigento. Both groves grow three varieties of olive: Cerasuola, Biancolilla and Nocellara de Belice. The latter represents approximately 60% of total production and is typical of the area. It is recognized for its large-sized fruit and produces an oil with a very distinctive flavor. The other two varieties, Cerasuola and Biancolilla, have a much more delicate flavor. The oil has a wonderful green color and a fresh bouquet of herbs, citrus fruit, artichokes and tomatoes. It has a delicate, full rather than spicy flavor. Get this remarkable and scarce, small production olive oil while it lasts! Net Weight: 500ml.

Review of Novello '2010' Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 lt or 12/1 lt

This oil is fantastic. It is unfiltered, and while it may look a bit odd when you first see it (especially if you are used to crystal-clear oils), once you taste it, you won't want anything else. The oil, with its little bits of olive, has a very fresh aroma. Those bits also give the oil a texture that is more palatable than common oils.I received a bottle of this oil for Christmas and have used it daily since. The thing is, I haven't used it for cooking - just for dressing, topping, and dipping.I have resisted the urge to just take a shot of the stuff.I would think that one could cook with it in much the same way that one cooks with butter - I'd be worried about the bits burning over too high a heat. But honestly, it has been so good in its raw form, I've not seen the need to use it in the pan (we all have other oil for that).A few things - don't put it in the fridge - it will set up on you until it warms up again, and frankly, who wants to wait.Second, if you order a bottle, it may not look like the photo here because the oil has a 'vintage' of sorts (note the 2010 in the name) and it seems the manufacturer changes the labels from time to time.

This oil may seem pricey, but for those that enjoy good olive oil, I strongly recommend it.Spending this much on liquor isn't a big deal to most people, and this stuff is at least good for you.

It is harvested by hand and milled within 12 hours from the harvest. This oil is unfiltered. Great for all kinds of rustic dishes, bruschetta and bean soups.

Review of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sampler - 6 bottle set

I can't review the flavor or quality of these olive oils as the assortment was intended as a gift. However, I can comment on the size. When they say "Sampler" they mean just that. Please note what I failed to see in the item description: that each bottle contains only 20 ml each. (That's 0.67 ounces!) So, what you get for $25 (plus shipping costs) is six bottles, each 3 and 1/2 inches tall (to the top of the cap - think those little bottles of alcohol sold on airplanes.) Combined, those six bottles total up to about 4 ounces of olive oil. Adding in the cost of shipping, that works out to $8 per ounce! I need the gift so it's not going back but had I realized the size before ordering I would have just gone to a specialty store and gotten a couple of large bottles of good olive oil for the same amount of money or less. The moral of this story... read the descriptions well.

Review of Lucini Extra Virgin Olive oil 25oz

FANTASTIC olive oil. I didn't know what olive oil was supposed to taste like, but this is it, apparently. Awesome flavor and aroma with no bite. I tasted it next to cheap oil, with bread. It's at least 40% better. I wouldn't use it in cooking due to the price, but for topping and dipping, it's top notch.

Review of Lucini Extra Virgin Olive oil 17oz

I picked this up at whole foods while shopping, based on America Test Kitchen's best super market oil recommendation, and really love this oil. It's not particularly spicy but has a great heady fruity aroma that's just divine.I wouldn't cook with it but as a condiment drizzled on pasta, meat, ripe summer tomatoes, and of course in dressing, it raises the dish a few levels.

Review of Frantoia - Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I used to by my bertoli or similar extra virgin olive oil at my local stores - then from watching Mario Batali on the food network I got curious to how different the more expensive oils could be, Mario always said that "if they dont let you taste it before you buy it, go somewhere else" - that is not an option where I live, there are no stores like that around here, I would have to drive an hour and a half. So I just figured that the oil Mario uses is probably pretty good, I found it online a few years ago and have ordered it ever since, it truly is awesome, I cook with it, fry in it, make dressings and whatnot, it really is WAY better than the standard EV's you find in supermarkets...

Review of Columela Extra Virgin Olive Oil 17 ounce size

This is simply the best I've tasted and worth the price. It's bold and will hold its own in salad dressings, dipping oils, sauteeing and for adding to just about any light recipe, although I doubt I'd bury this extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) in a sauce or a hearty stew; it's too good for disguising. I don't care for subtle olive oils. This one isn't, and it's become my EVOO of choice (cold-pressed). Be aware that Columela makes several different types of EVOO, so this review is meant to address only this particular varietal.

Review of Columela Extra Virgin Olive Oil From Spain , 17-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2)

The best EVOO under $40. We live in the Bay Area where there are tons of artisan producers of EVOO and this stuff is by far the best in its price range. There are better ones for 50+ for this size but this oil has a smooth taste, silky in texture and a wonderfully fruity and fresh bouquet and taste. Your mouth will definitely love this! This little Italian set is a perfect gift for yourself or others. It is a great price, and the product is very high quality. It doesn't come in a gift basket, and that was the disappointing part.It came as raw bottles wrapped in bubble wrap, so they could have done better on the display for a gift. This is great for cooking and for bread dipping.Would buy again for sure!
